Join Us for Our Music U Fall Recital!
We invite you to join us on Saturday, November 16th, for an afternoon filled with amazing performances, fun facts, and even the occasional stand-up routine! Our young musicians have been working hard to showcase their talents, and we can't wait for you to witness their progress!
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Nope. Never.
-
Our recital fee is $35 for each participant. Once you have registered for the recital, the fee will be added to your next invoice.
-
Students should come with their music books or sheet music of pieces they are performing. If a student has multiple loose pages, it’s best to have them taped together on the edges beforehand to alleviate page turns during their performance or add them to a binder.
-
Recital participants will be asked to sit in the front row to get to the stage quickly and easily. This is merely a request and not a requirement. Because we invite all ages to participate, we understand that some of our preschool performers may feel more comfortable sitting with their parents before and after their performance. In addition, some children may need encouragement from their parents to stay focused and be respectful of other performers, so we leave the seating to your discretion.

At Music U, we believe that when you look great, you feel great! And when you feel great, you play great! We like to say dress to impress, but that means something different to each musician. We want each performer to feel comfortable and uniquely themselves on stage. Musicians should wear something that makes them feel fabulous.

Yes! All are welcome to join! Let us know if you have a large group coming so that we can make sure we have enough seats (and cookies) for everyone!
-
Yes! We have so many out-of-town friends and family members, so we always plan to livestream from the Music U Facebook Page.
-
After all performances are complete from your group, you are invited to attend our reception, held downstairs. We’ll have cookies, refreshments, music, and a fun photo backdrop for you and your family to enjoy! We love it when you share your backdrop photos on social media and tag @MusicUClass. The reception usually lasts about 20-30 minutes.

While we try to ensure a fun and relaxed environment at every recital, a student may get to the day or even the moment and decide it’s just not for them. We believe it is brave to get up on stage to perform. We also believe it is brave to say you don’t want to do something if you don’t feel comfortable doing it. We will not force any musician on stage to perform, and we value each student’s autonomy in deciding for themselves.
-
Once a musician has selected recital pieces, we encourage parents to be extra involved in helping them prepare for the big day. Playing the pieces every day (or as often as you can) will help build confidence with the piece. As the recital date gets closer, we recommend setting up a few mini-performances for family members and friends, even over video calls. This gives them the performance experience, and they will get more repetition in their pieces.
In addition, walking your child through the day, from bringing their music to arriving and seeing their friends and teachers, sitting in the front and waiting for their name, to the cookie reception at the end, can help ease their mind about what to expect.
-
Yes! Please come! We encourage the entire Music U crew to come and cheer on their peers even if they are not participating.
Sometimes, new students want to see what it’s all about before committing to participating. We totally get it and would love to have you in the audience!
-
Absolutely! At Music U, we believe there is value in getting up in front of people and showcasing what you’ve been learning. The boost of confidence they receive from a crowd of people cheering for them is undeniable. Most of our preschool musicians perform age and level-appropriate duets with their teachers. Once they get one recital under their belt, they become old pros pretty quickly!
-
We like to give students one month to prepare their pieces for the recital so that they can feel comfortable and confident with their performance. If you have at least one month to prepare for the recital with pieces you’ve chosen with your teacher, you are welcome to participate in the upcoming recital.
-
We allow each participant to choose two pieces. Musicians studying multiple instruments can choose one piece for each instrument.
